Coming home on the bonnie banks of Edinburgh !

A show and a city packed with AC/DC symbolism: bells, canons, kilts and bagpipes surrounding the stadium.  AC/DC certainly took the high road for their last show of this European leg in Edinburgh bonnie Scottland.  Will it be the last time in Europe or ....?  As this leg of the Power Up Tour is ending, the show feels like a warm embrace and home coming for a tour that has started in May last year in Gelsenkirchen.  Closing a loop of steady performances in Europe mainland, rejoicing many a fan over the past year.

I was charmed by the the city of Edinburgh and our first show in Scotland, despite the frenzy of the Fringe festival going on at the same time. Upon arrival I accidentally stumbled upon the Dive Bar at Malone's where I instantly met old and new AC/DC friends and folks.  Locals were extremely friendly and welcoming, making me feel at home immediately.  No one ignores the 1 o'clock canon shot from Edinburgh castle, a wee taster for the 21 gun salute later.  The walk to the stadium along cute pubs and merry castles went really smooth just like the crowd management at the stadium.  The right sized front of stage only filled up at show time, as fans and families were boozing up on their way to the stadium in often AC/DC coloured pubs and outdoor bars.  We struggled a little with the merch booths, as we cued up for almost an hour only to learn the event shirt had been sold out (a fanny 500 pieces for each shirt size)!

We were treated to more than we expected as the traditional "Bonnie" guitar sling was performed, not just by Angus , but with the entire band chiming into a real "Fling Thing", not heard live since 1978.  What a joy to hear this barrel aged cherry on the cake as a start for the usual encores TNT and the canons in For Those About To Rock!

Fling Thing live in Edinburgh

Though the crowd was much less lively as in Paris 2, there was heavy chanting throughout the songs. We would have expected much more singing to Fling Thing echoeing through the stadium with some more conviction.  Might have been Oasis fatigue - 3 shows in Edinburgh not even 10 days away - as many locals we talked to had been present?

 Brian for President: "sure!"

That boy has the devil in his fingers

"Snakes take."                                                          "Ain’t got the guts."

  "Drive you nuts"

Angus duck run and struttin' at solos

One of my favorite moments, Angus closing jump at each song end.

As this could potentially be last European show ever, lots of international fans made it to the gold circle, chanting "AC – DC" behind their flags.  Tears are swelling, it’s the last show of this leg of the tour.  Successful homecoming in Scotland, a warm congregation.

My friends are gonna be there too!

We will certainly miss the tight sound of the backbone Chris/Stevie/Matt and these classic Angus moves until the end of the year!
